As the daughter of an artist and art teacher, I have been creatively engaged throughout my life. Art supplies were my playthings and clay was my favorite toy. Since 2009, I have had the time and leisure to dive whole-heartedly into playing with clay again. I make both functional and sculptural work, with much of my work focusing on wildlife. Besides playing with clay, my favorite pastime is spending time in nature observing wildlife.

Wildlife amuses, charms, fascinates and evokes our humanity. Whether it is some recognition of ourselves in our fellow creatures, or the desire to protect something pure and innocent, wildlife can evoke strong emotions. Using the many methods and techniques offered by clay, my sculptures explore, not only their graceful forms and compelling textures, but also the endearing nature of birds and animals. I hope to communicate and inspire love for these creatures through my renderings.

My work has won awards and has juried into many shows including the Biennial Creative Crafts Council Exhibitions and the National Juried Show at the Delaplaine Arts Center as well as shows at the Strathmore Mansion, Glenview Mansion, The Falls Church Arts Gallery, The Popcorn Gallery at Glen Echo Park, The Artist’s Gallery, Anne Marie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center, and the Arts Barn. Aware of how fortunate I am to have the time and resources to pursue art, and committed to the concept of paying it forward, I donate fifty percent of my proceeds to charities that fight hunger.
