Angela Lacy’s passion for art of watercolor began shortly after her retirement from the Federal Government as program analyst in 2008. The spontaneity and  challenging nature of watercolor captivated her immediately.  Angela continues to explore the possibilities to push the medium beyond its limitations. Her objective  is to capture in her painting an extraordinary form that the strong light and shadow play in the subject.    Often her subjects are found in ordinary surroundings and the places she travels.   Although Angela enjoys plein air sketching, she is a studio painter referencing photos she has taken.

Her highest achievement was winning a Gold medal at Pennsylvania Watercolor Society’s 39th International Juried Exhibition in 2018.  The image of her painting appeared in the “21 Best Water-media Paintings of the Year” article in the February 2019 issue of “Watercolor Artists” magazine.   In March 2020 she was awarded Best in Show from Alexandrea Art League at Torpedo Factory. In the past 3 years she also received awards from National Watercolor Society International juried exhibition, SanDiego Watercolor Society International juried exhibition, Baltimore Watercolor Society signature member show, Mid-Atlantic juried Watercolor Exhibition, Potomac Valley Watercolorists online Show and other local art organizations.

Angela has exhibited locally and nationally.  She hopes her painting will evoke joy in viewer’s heart, as it gives her great joy and pleasure to paint. She is grateful for this amazing art journey.
